Year 5 shipwreck

Year 5 came into an unusual sight today when they discovered a shipwreck on the field outside their classrooms! No-one was quite sure how it got there, but strewn all around were old-fashioned items that looked like they had come from the nineteenth century, including old coins, clothing, toys, postcards and hand-written letters. 

Once the children had had a chance to investigate, they returned to their classrooms to try and come up with ideas about what had happened (and there were some very imaginative ideas indeed!). Soon after their thinking, the children were then set tasks by their teachers to produce pieces of writing based on the event. We had some amazing newspaper reports, diary entries and message in a bottle notes. 

What a super day!
