Year 5 - WOW Day

Our wow this half term was a visit from Mad Science. Pupils in Year 5 were amazed by a fascinating assembly that introduced the topic of states of matter. There were plenty of ‘oohs and aas’ as ‘Atomic’ Aimee demonstrated the wonders of air pressure through a range of experiments from showing how hot air rises by lighting a paper rocket to blowing a toilet roll around the audience using a leaf blower.

During the morning, children were in awe of the dry ice and the wonderful ways it can be used. They explored how it can: cover the floor with an eerie mist; create bubble clouds they could hold; and make enough carbon dioxide to inflate a balloon from the outside. 

As always, the children of Chantry made us proud and were commended on their impeccable behaviour, manners and enthusiasm.
