Year 3 WOW - Trip to Verulamium
Tuesday 14th January 2020
On Tuesday, year 3 went to St Albans Verulamium, the Roman site and museum in St Albans. We had a fantastic time looking at and handling Roman artefacts, some of which are over 2000 years old! We were able to find out how the Romans lived and all the objects they left behind after they invaded, which we still use today.
We also went on an informative walk around the local area finding out about the Roman burial site and battle fields leading to the cathedral where the saint, Alban`s remains are meant to lie.
The children also saw the first form of central heating invented by the Romans called the hypocaust.
All the information gathered will support the children with our topic on the Romans and the book we are reading called `Down with the romans`
A very successful and rewarding day.
