Year 2 Fantastic Finish - Sewing hand puppets

To finish off our unit The Owl Who was Afraid of the Dark, we invited parents to come into our classrooms and help us to sew owl puppets. Our pupils showed us the sewing skills that they had learnt by using the running stitch and some of us even learnt how to use the cross stitch.

After planning our hand puppet, we cut out felt to create the body and were prepared with our sewing needles and thread. After sewing our hand puppet panels together, we decorated these by including eyes, beaks and even wings! The results were fantastic! Our parents really enjoyed themselves and were a helping hand to all our pupils in class. It was a great afternoon indeed.
