Year 1 WOW - Autumn Walk 2025

As an introduction to our new book, ‘Pumpkin Soup’ and our work around seasons, the children indulged in an Autumn Walk around the local area and Lewsey Park.

It was a wonderful morning of using our hawk eyes to spot any Autumn signs, including exploring trees, identifying different leaves, noticing nests in trees and wildlife all while hearing the crunch of leaves under our feet.

Children identified evergreen and deciduous trees, learning new vocabulary as well as using the sense of touch to fully engage our senses in the season of Autumn.

The children loved picking leaves, twigs and berries to bring back to school with them. We had the best time, running through the fallen, brown, yellow and orange leaves as well as crunching them under our feet.
