Football Festival
Tuesday 20th March 2018
Tuesday afternoon saw 12 of Chantry’s students take part in a football festival organised by Luton Town FC and the Football League as part of the 'Day of Action' scheme.
Split into 2 competitions (year 3&4 and year 5&6), the year 3&4’s would play each team twice with the top team winning the trophy and the top 4 from the year 5&6 would go into a knockout competition.
The year 3&4’s started with a tough fixture against a strong Downside team ending in a 5-2 defeat however that defeat would be avenged with a hard thought 1-0 victory in the second game. We finished the festival strongly with 4-0 and 5-0 victories over Foxdell. These results meant we finished the group in 2nd place, missing out to Downside on goal difference.
The year 5&6’s started well with 2 victories against Wigmore before narrowly losing to Ferrars in the last game, meaning we finished 2nd in the group, and progressing to the semi-finals. Unfortunately we came up against a very tough Downside team losing 4-2.
A fantastic day was capped with the opportunity to play a game with two of Luton Town’s first team players- striker Danny Hylton and defender Alan Sheehan and later followed with an appearance on Sky Sports News.
A fantastic effort from all involved with everyone enjoying the opportunity to develop their skills and play with professional footballers. Well Done Everyone.
