Nursery - Chinese New Year
Thursday 23rd January 2020
On Thursday the children in nursery had the opportunity to experience some activities related to the Chinese New Year. This year the Chinese community were celebrating the Year of the Rat. The children learned that 12 animals had a race to decide the order of when it would be their year. They also learned that red and gold were lucky as were the numbers 8 and 9.
All of the children took home something they made that was related to the celebration and this included making Laisee Bags with gold coins inside, dragon puppets, pictures they had coloured and trumpets. Noodles and prawn crackers were also tasted by the children. To finish the day off we all went outside with the dragon head and danced around the playground scaring away the bad luck with trumpets and musical instruments. I think we all had a wonderful time learning about other peoples cultures and beliefs.
