Year 5 WOW - Victorian Era

Wednesday 8th November

Year 5 were sent back to the Victorian era for the WOW to coincide with their current book “Street Child.” The children spent the day in the life as a Victorian school child where they dressed up in traditional clothes and had to show their knowledge of the three R’s. During the arithmetic lesson the children had to calculate shillings and pounds while writing with slate and chalk. The original Victorian house allowed the children to experience what life was like for cooking, cleaning, sleeping and going to the toilet in a bucket outside (which they were not impressed by at all!)

 Luckily, the children brought their own packed lunches and did not have to have broth and bread. The day finished with a drill and P.E. lesson.
