Year 5/6 Girl's Football Tournament

14th March 2018

After a strong showing at the last girls tournament, finishing a very respectable third in Luton out of 40 schools. Our Year 5/6 Girls Football Team set a very high standard of where they wanted to finish in this next tournament. We were drawn in a very difficult group, with the winners of the last tournament, Ferrars Junior School. However we worked our way through the group, scoring 18 goals in 5 games and not conceding once. This meant we qualified top of our group and made it through to the Quarter-Finals.

In the Quarter-Finals we played a very tough Beechwood team which we beat 1-0 with seconds to spare on the clock. In the Semi-Final we faced an even stronger Pirton Hill team, who we destroyed 3-1, setting us up for the final. In the final we played Downside Primary School. After a hard fought game we unfortunately lost 1-0.

The girls involved have achieved an amazing amount since we started up the club two years ago, going from an unknown with no experience to one of the teams that other schools fear. They should be very proud of what they have achieved and they have already set their sights higher in the next tournament!
