Kurling Competition

14th December 2017

Thursday afternoon saw 3 teams (Reds, Blues and Yellows) of Chantry pupils travel to Luton Sixth Form College to compete in a Kurling competition against 36 other teams.

The Blues were our first team in action and they showed great focus to earn a 1-0 win over Bramingham before being beaten by Ferrars, Hillborough and Denbigh; however they persevered and finished with a 2-1 victory over Dallow.

The Chantry Reds started very brightly winning 2 of their first 3 matches, a defeat against William Austin meant that the Reds had to win their last game to advance to the quarter finals and they did that in spectacular fashion with a 6-0 win over Ferrars.

The Yellows showed great skill and concentration in their games securing 4 wins from 4 in the group stages Farley -4-0, Beech Hill-7-1, Wigmore- 7-1 and Downside-7-2) meaning they topped their group and moved on to the next stage.

The quarter final draw was not kind to us as our 2 advancing teams were drawn against each other, both teams showed great sportsmanship and unity while playing against friends and the result saw the Yellow team winning 4-3 and moving on to the semi-finals where were drawn against Hillborough where we were unfortunately beaten 5-2.

A great effort was shown by all pupils who attended and they can all be proud of what they achieved in a sport they had had some very limited practice.
