Inter-Schools Netball Year 3 & 4 Festival
Thursday 10th May 2018
Eight girls from Years 3 and 4 attended this event at Ashcroft High School. This was the firs time the girls had played any official matches and their very first festival.
We settled in to the first match well against St Matthews with some super defending, our lunchtime practices paying off! Final score was 0 – 0. During our second match we faced Denbigh, the girls had more confidence in themselves this time around and were ready to show off their consistent team work. A 2 – 0 win proved they had faith in themselves, with our two shooters really working together creating a strong attacking duo. Our third match was against Riverbank during which the girls really stepped up their skills by fantastic marking and defending skills and some great passing sequences. We were very pleased with another 2 – 0 win. Our fourth opponents were the Bushmead team who put up a united front in their will to win but our Centre player did a brilliant job of distributing the ball successfully to our players in attack. Final score 1 – 0 to Chantry. The girls last team to play was Surrey Street who also proved to be strong in their attacking skills. The Chantry team stepped up to the challenge marking their opponents closely, their quick reaction time proving to be a great asset. After end to end play the final score was 0 – 0.
Every member of the team pulled together on the courts to perform their best. It was very rewarding to see this new team shine through, playing with confidence and commitment. Each win was well deserved and I look forward to working with them again in the autumn term.
