Lord Mayor's Show 2018

Saturday 10th November 2018

We had the real honour today of teaming up with our friends from Whitefield to take part in the prestigious Lord Mayor's Show in London. The event takes place each November, celebrating the 'crowning' of the new mayor of the City of London and is a spectacular parade throughout the streets of the capital!

We had a bright and early start, having to travel to London for 8am. Once there, we were prepped on the day's schedule before making the short drive to take our place in the parade lineup. We were privileged to be representing the Variety Club, the amazing children's charity who help young people up and down the country (and who donated both Chantry's and Whitefield's minibuses!).

Our entry was just one of 150 colourful floats, all of which were breathtaking for a whole range of reasons; we were mesmerised by the uniqueness and creativity of each one. There was a giant robot, Queen Victoria, Santa, aliens, pandas, dinosaurs (and loads more!) as well as over 1000 armed forces representatives, all of whom did a grand job on the poignant Remembrance weekend.

Our children did themselves so proud; they were interacting with the crowd all the  way through the parade, high-fiving them and chatting away. The crowd in turn, loved the children's enthusiasm and so many of them had massive smiles on their faces due to our children's positivity.

Although it was a long day, the children still had the energy for a well-deserved Pizza Hut dinner before heading home in the evening, proud of the fantastic work they'd done during the day...and what a day it was!
